What is a sister?

A sister is someone

Who’s nice as can be

Who knows you are no angel

And neither is she!

She’s there when you need her,

To reach out her hands

Her smile always tell you

That she understands.

A sister is a partner

For good times and fun

And someone to blame

For mischief you have done

A sister is a friend

You can talk with all night

She’s there to depend on

When things first aren’t right

A sister is someone

Who always will care

And nothing can compare with

The love that you share.

Promise

If ever a promise you do make,

Make it sure it does not break,

For broken promises, like wilted flowers,

Can never hope to bloom again,

So keep your promise and cause no pain,

A broken promise is a promise in vain

— Aashish Saini, Class IX, Shimla Public School, Shimla

Titanic

Oh, the fateful day she set afloat,

The unsinkable ship, the king boat.

To go to the States, for her voyage maiden,

She waited on the port, with people laden,

Her size unrivalled — her beauty distinct.

She tore apart the tides, with a prideful instinct.

With every mile that she covered without fear,

She moved towards death, her end drew near.

The sea was calm; dark was the night,

Waiting to see Titanic’s plight.

An iceberg struck her, on front, on side,

And shattered her soaring pride.

The silence broke, the scene became violent.

And the ocean drank her up, now all was silent.

Those alive, shouted, cried, pleaded, prayed

And asked Him, "For what had such a price they paid?"

Today lies in the Atlantic, their watery grave,

From the clutches of fate, whom none could save.
