Bank union for making defaulters’ name public

The Punjab Bank Employees Federation has urged the Central Government to make public the names of all big defaulters of the bank. It is the minimum step that the government should have taken by now to recover about Rs 64,000 crore non-performing assets from these defaulters.

A renowned philanthropist of Ludhiana, Avtar Singh Grewal was a dynamic man. He was born on June 17, 1919, at Kaunke village. He was a graduate from Khalsa College, Amritsar and he got his degree in law from Lahore.

Cultural contests mark annual function

Students of Param Institute, Ranjit Nagar, participated in various cultural contests that marked its annual function. The cultural programme began with a shabad, followed by Punjabi folk songs, “Meri rangli madhani”, “Multani kangan ghara de” and “Uddun Uddun kare mera jee”.
