Extending support to the move by the BJP and the BSP to form a coalition government in Uttar Pradesh, NDA coalition partner Rashtriya Lok Dal said today the state could not have a government without going in for such a “compromise”.

Two days after the gala celebration of his 75th birthday, the Supreme Court today directed a trust headed by former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar to hand over a sprawling 51-acre of land around his famous ashram on the outskirts of the Capital to the Haryana Government within two months.

nod to delimitation panel
New Delhi, April 19
With a view to removing the
imbalances in the size of various Lok Sabha and Assembly
constituencies the government has approved the introduction of a Bill
to set up a delimitation commission. This will be the first
delimitation commission that will be set up in the past 30 years.

Challan
filed against VC
Patiala, April 19
The local police today presented
a challan against Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Dr Jasbir Singh
Ahluwalia and two others in a local court paying the way for the start
of trial in which the Vice-Chancellor is an accused of attempting to
rape a student of the Department of Fine Arts of the varsity. Besides
the Vice-Chancellor, there are two other accused — Head of
Department of Fine Arts, Dr Saroj Chaman and technical department
assistant Jaspal Singh.
