Responding to Mr Naidu’s remarks at Chandigarh yesterday about his “one-point agenda,” the Chief Minister said the BJP chief should look after the governments where the BJP was ruling. “The Congress-ruled states follow directions of the Congress president,’’ he said. The Chief Minister, who met Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani today, said issue of alleged corruption during the previous regime did not figure at the meeting. “The meeting was about the ghaliara project in Amritsar,’’ he said. To a question, the Chief Minister said he would not allow interference by the Centre on the issue of fighting corruption. “This country has a federal structure. Every state can act as it thinks proper. Punjab people had given us a mandate for anti-corruption drive,” he said. The Chief Minister said state Vigilance officials were not allowed to do their job for five hours by the INLD and Akali Dal workers during yesterday’s raids in Gurgaon. “Everyone should support the anti-corruption drive, but if they don’t, we have no option,’’ he said. The Chief Minister denied that the NDA government had exerted pressure on him regarding cases against Mr Badal. “It is not for the NDA government to tell us how to run our states...The anti-corruption drive will continue until corruption ends,’’ he said. Capt Amarinder Singh said foreign agencies were cooperating in his government’s efforts to get details of Mr Badal’s properties. “I can assure that all have come to assist us particularly after 9\11,’’ he said. |
