Taking a cue from the Union Minister of State for Sports and Culture, Mr Vijay Goel, the Standing Committee Chairman, Mr Ram Babu Sharma, today called upon the NGOs to come forward and adopt MCD schools.
Mr Vijay Goel has recently adopted a corporation school in Gali Bandook Wali in the walled city and renovated it. All facilities have been provided to the school after its adoption by Mr Goel.
Mr Sharma said that the NGOs should involve themselves in providing not only the physical infrastructure in these schools but also contribute towards teacher-parent interaction for an all-round progress of children.
Speaking on a function of laying the foundation stone for the construction of additional classrooms in a primary school at New Kondli in East district, Mr Sharma said that the NGOs should come forward for the social cause.
The Mayor of Delhi Mr Ashok Kumar Jain, expressed confidence that the MCD would be able to remove the scourge of tented schools shortly.
He said that it would be ensured that the children get not only the improved physical infrastructure in terms of basic amenities but also quality education which could help them become responsible citizens.
The Municipal Councillor, Mrs Vidya Devi, and area MLA Amrish Gautam said that with the construction of the additional classrooms, the school would be able to fulfil the long-felt need of the area residents.
