Sanjay School drub Chopasni in Subroto Cup

New Delhi, December 5
Sanjay Public School, Chandigarh, toyed with Chopasni Senior Secondary School, Jodhpur (Rajasthan), 10-0 in a Group VIII match of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium on Friday.

Ajay Kumar stole the spotlight with a three-goal blitz while Naresh, Sahib Singh, Sushil, Jaspreet Singh, Ajay Bhatt, Amandeep Singh and Guru Dev Singh scored the other goals.

In a Group VII match, Town High School, Sundargarh (Orissa), defeated Government School, Kokrajhar (Assam) 1-0.

Narayan Soren slotted home the all-important goal in the opening minute itself.

St. Ignatious High School, Gumla (Jharkhand) were locked in a goalless draw with Sports Authority of India, Kolkata.

RCN eclipse Kranti Star in DDCA League

RCN defeated Kranti Star by 98 runs in an A-II Division match of the DDCA League at the RSC ground.

Scores: RCN: 228 for 7 in 35 overs (Rajesh Madan 70 n.o., Vijay Randhawa 44, Ankit Chawla 33, Sahil Grover 2 for 47). Kranti Star: 130 all out in 31.2 overs (Shobhit Chandok 20, Rattan Kumar 3 for 32, Frasat Ali 3 for 16).

Delhi Club beat Rajdhani Club by nine wickets in an A-II Division match at the Yamuna Complex ground.

Scores: Rajdhani: 112 all out in 31.1 overs (Shaan Ali 33, Ashok Kumar 5 for 27, Rakesh Kumar 4 for 19). Delhi Club: 115 for 1 in 17.1 overs (Amresh Pradhan 51, Sunil Kashyap 43 n.o).

Raghubir Willowers beat Rehman by six wickets in an A-I Division match at the Yamuna ground. Scores: Rehman Club: 116 all out in 36.3 overs (Mohd Sajid 59, Mohd Javed 29, Vipin Bhardwaj 3 for 13, Vinay Yadav 3 for 47). Aviva Under-13 Cricket

Aviva XI will take on RPM Academy in the opening match of the Aviva Young Achiever (Under-13) Cricket Tournament starting at the Gyan Bharati School ground at Saket on Saturday. In the second match, to be held at the Hansraj School ground, Hansraj Academy will clash against West Delhi Academy. Top 12 teams will participate in the tournament.

Frank Anthony enter final

An unbeaten knock of 65 by Vivek Verma and deadly bowling of 4 for 35 by Aditya Saini helped Frank Anthony School defeat Kalka Public School by 35 runs and entered the final of the Frank Anthony Inter-School Cricket Tournament.

Scores: Frank Anthony: 205 for 7 in 35 overs (Vivek Verma 65 n o, Ankit Arora 31, Shivansh Gupta 3 for 34).

Kalka School: 170 all out in 33 overs (Arjun Chaudhary 57, Vikas Kumar 38, Aditya Saini 4 for 35, Mohit Bagga 3 for 34, Sabya Banerjee 3 for 18).

HT defeat Star

Hindustan Times defeated Star by five wickets in the Star Alliance Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament at the Bhagat Singh College ground. In other matches, Times of India beat HT by 19 runs, Interra beat Sapient by six wickets, Allatel beat Wipro by five wickets, Cadance beat Interra by three wickets, Hughes beat Denso by 25 runs, New Zealand beat Neusseus by 25 runs, Teri beat Bhushan by four wickets and LG beat Nucceus by 28 runs.

Mithun Manhas retained Delhi skipper

Mithun Manhas has been retained as the skipper of the recast Delhi Ranji Tropy team which now sport a balanced look. The 15-member team, announced by Delhi and District Cricket Association sports secretary Sunil Dev on Friday, who is also the convenor of the senior selection committee, are:

India-Pak Veterans’ ODI in Delhi

The veteran cricketers of India and Pakistan will play an One-Day International (ODI) match at the Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi on December 22. The match will be telecast live by Doordarshan. Veterans’ Cricket Association of Delhi general secretary Sunil Khanna said former Pakistan cricket greats like Majid Khan, Mohsin Khan, Aquib Javed, Sadiq Mohd and Abdul Qadir were likely to play in the match.

ESPN Star Corporate Cup

The ESPN Star Sports Corporate Challenger Cup Cricket Tournament will be held in Delhi from Saturday, with a match between ESPN and Associates at the Bhagat Singh College ground at 9 am.

Twenty-four leading corporate teams are taking part in the tournament. The matches will comprise 25 overs each side, and will be played on weekends. The matches will be played at the Bhagat Singh College and Central Secretariat grounds.

Hudco triumph

Hudco trounced Coca-Cola by 190 runs in the Luminous Cup Cricket Tournament. Scores: Hudco: 226 for 4 in 25 overs (Mukesh Kumar 66 n.o., Rajneesh Saxena 57, Ramesh Negi 54, Kumar Gaurav 1 for 31).

Willes Little Flower bloom in Schools’ World Cup

Willes Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Bangladesh, scored a handsome 183-run victory against Delhi Public School (DPS), Vasant Kunj, in the DPS World Cup Invitational Cricket for Schools at the DDA Saket Sports Complex ground.

Scores: Willes Little Flower: 249 for 9 in 35 overs (Kamrul Islam 102, Saif Mahmood 68, Ojaswi Gulati 3 for 30, Kumar Priyadarshi 3 for 54). DPS: 66 all out in 29.4 overs (Md. Elias 4 for 6, Mehrab Hossain 3 for 11).

Ravindra Public School, Delhi defeated Loyola School, Thiruvanathapuram by 99 runs at the Harbaksh Stadium.

Sanjay Singh wins golf title

Sanjay Singh of Noida shot a two-day aggregate of ten-under 130 to sail home to a two-stroke win at the Rs 1.5 lakh PGA Mini Tour event, which concluded at the par-70 Qutab Golf Course ground in New Delhi. Sanjay followed up his opening round of 63, with second round three-under 67 to pocket the winner’s cheque of Rs 24,300. Chandigarh’s Gursimran Sethi finished second at eight under 132, with S K Abbas Ali occupying the third spot at 135. Sanjay started the day steadily with a series of pars on his outward journey. On his back nine, Sanjay birdied the 12th, 14th and 15th for an error-free card of 67.

Sarpanches given cheques worth Rs 54 lakh

Mr Dev Raj Dewan, an independent MLA, distributed cheques amounting to Rs 54 lakh among sarpanches of 15 villages falling under the jurisdicton of the Sonepat assembly constituency. The amount was sanctioned by Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala during his tour in connection with the third phase of the Sarkar Aap Ke Dwar programme for various development works to be executed in the villages at a function held in the office of the Block Development and Panchayat Officer here last evening.

According to a report, the amount sanctioned for the villages is as follows: Shahzadpur (Rs 8,78,130), Chitana (Rs 3,15,810), Juan No 1 (Rs 9,63,270), Juan No 2 (Rs 1,09,890), Jahri (Rs 1,73,250), Kilorad (Rs 2,47,500), Mohana (Rs 4,15,800), Naina Tatarpur (Rs 3,74,220), Saleempur Trauli (Rs 1,48,400), Tharia (Rs 2,85,120), Sandal Khurd (Rs 1,64,340), Bayyanpur (Rs 4,81,140), Chatia Aulia (Rs 4,89,160), Lehrara (Rs 44,550), Sandal Kalan (Rs 2,12, 260), Tharu (Rs 1,17,810) and Uldepur (Rs 29,700).
