Bihar DGP removed, will move SC Patna, December 6 Mr Ojha, a 1967 batch IPS officer, whose removal had been demanded by ministers and some of his own subordinates in the police force, said the government action was a fallout of his sustained campaign to break the nexus between politicians, bureaucrats and criminals in the state and he would place all facts before the Supreme Court and the nation. Mr W.H. Khan, who was DGP (Civil Defence), has been appointed as the new DGP, swapping posts with Mr Ojha. Having earlier announced his resignation, Mr Ojha later reversed stand, saying he would not resign due to “technicalities”, but will not work for the state government in the remaining two months of his service. “I have not resigned due to technicalities... because otherwise I will not get any post-retiral benefits. I may go on long leave or take voluntary retirement. But I will not work for this (Bihar) Government any more,” he told NDTV. Soon after getting his transfer order earlier in the day, Mr Ojha had announced that he would resign. Commenting on Mr Ojha’s removal, RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav said, “We have tolerated him for very long”. The DGP had violated the servic code by his remarks against politicians and he never paid heed to Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s advice not to do so, he added. Asked whether he was removed because the Bihar Government wanted to “shield” jailed RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin, Mr Ojha said, “I do not know about that but it is one of the principal reasons.” —
