Two rapists get five-year jail term

Yadav, and Umed Singh, son of Roop Chand Yadav, to five years’ imprisonment for rape and fined them rs 1,000 each.

Special schemes to collect arrears fail to enthuse consumers

Even though the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) had introduced a number of schemes for the recovery of the arrears in the past, the response of the consumers have been extremely poor. Most of the schemes failed to enthuse the consumers, who failed to deposit the arrears against them.
Five policemen in the dock for murder
Panipat, December 6
A criminal case was registered today at Samalkha Police Station against five police personnel over the death of a resident of village Naraina in suspicious circumstances late last night. The body of the victim was sent to PGIMS, Rohtak, for the postmortem examination. According to information, nearly half a dozen police personnel came to the village on Friday evening and took one Shiv Charan, a milk vendor of village Naraina, along with them on the allegation that he was involved in selling drugs. Later in the evening, the villagers reportedly found his body near the village school.

Case registered for misappropriating Rs 58 lakh
Faridabad, December 6
The police have registered a case of cheating and fraud against three employees of the office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies at Palwal. It is alleged that these employees had been involved in misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 58 lakh, found after an audit report. No arrest had been made so far.

Red Fort shoot-out accused seek bail
New Delhi, December 6
Four accused in the Red Fort shoot-out case have moved the Delhi High Court seeking bail, as other accused persons in the case have been granted similar relief.
Accused Shahanshah Alam, Babar Mohsin Bhagwala, Sadaqat Ali and Farooq Ahmed Qasid requested the court to grant them bail on the ground that similarly charged four other accused have already been enlarged and that the witnesses examined so far have said nothing against them.

Stalls removed for Chautala’s visit

The officials of the Sonepat Municipal Council removed the stalls of petition writers on the premises of the tehsil’s office here yesterday. Reportedly, this step was taken in view of the visit of the Chief Minister, Mr Om Parkash
