Dreaming of Valleys

Seeing a beautiful green valley is a very pleasing dream symbol, but should the scene be marred by some other symbol that is threatening or depressing in nature, such as clouds, the interpretation of the symbol changes.

As per Indian thought, to dream of being spellbound by a green valley with flowers blooming in it, is not a lucky omen. It means that you could fall ill suddenly, although you shall recover quickly. Should you be lost in the valley and not be able to find a way out then, too, it is not a good omen. If the valley is marshy or barren then it is a good omen for it specifies prosperity in health and finance.

As per western thought, seeing yourself walk through a green valley, and feeling pleasure in doing so foretells that fortune shall favour you. You shall fare well in business and if in service, you shall get a promotion. If in love, you shall be happy with your loved one and if married, your relationship you’re your partner will be blissful. But should the valley be totally barren then the complete meaning of the symbol changes. Such a dream prophesises sorrows, failures and losses. If you see such a dream you are warned to be mentally prepared for misfortunes. Should the valley be marshy, illness and vexations are foretold.

As per the psychoanalysts, dreaming of going down into a valley has the same meaning as going down a fleet of stairs. It means that the person is exploring the unknown parts of his unconscious self. A sort of self-analysis seems to be preoccupying the person concerned. This can result in either depression and gloom or finding discovering untapped potential. Being in a valley is also symbolic of the feminine archetype within us. It could also specify an aspect of your personality that you are not prepared to face or a desire to cut yourself from the world and delve into your own self. Should you see yourself leaving the valley then it denotes your coming out of your shell to interact with the people around you.

A woman would often see herself walking through a valley with green hills and green trees at a distance. As she would near the trees to rest under the shade she would find the trees totally bare of leaves. She would see a green meadow a little further and would go there to rest in it but even that would dry out when she would get near to it. When she would turn around to search for some beautiful corner to rest, she would find the entire meadow had turned totally barren. Somehow the woman finds something lacking in herself. She does not think of herself as a complete person. For certain reasons all pleasures seem to be losing their essence for her. She seems to be heading for depression.
