Plan (T-Series)

Sometimes you criticise the top names for their mediocre performance, without realising that lesser mortals cannot reach even that level. This thought gnaws you as you listen to new offerings from some wannabe music directors. Obviously they are hawking their finest wares but there is still a lot lacking.

The only thing noticeable about this Anand Raj Anand-directed album is the voice of Sanjay Dutt in Aim Kaim where he has Anand Raj Anand, Abhijeet and Shaan for company. The rest of the songs follow the well-travelled path.

Anand has lent his voice to several other songs, including the opener Pyar Aaya, which belongs to Alisha Chinoy. The only solo of the album, Mehboob Mere, has also been sung by Alisha Chinoy.

Hota Hai is an interesting duet by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kumar Sanu but it has been set to music by Vishal-Shekhar and written by Kumaar. Adnan Sami has adopted a slightly different style in Kaise Kaise in the company of Sunidhi Chauhan.

Lyrics are by Dev Kohli and Praveen Bhardwaj.

Ek Pari Ke Desh Mein (Venus)

This is a non-film album dressed as a regular film cassette. Models Sonali and Vinod have been featured as the hero and the heroine of these videographed songs sung by Md Niyaz and Shalini Shrivastava.

There are duets as well as solos set to music by Satish-Ajay. The cassette opens with the title song, but immediately after that the quality deteriorates. Singing, composing and writing departments leave a lot to be desired.

Lyrics by Annu T. and Meiraj Dehlvi attempt desperately to rhyme words. The only song which remains with you for some time is Pardesi Re, that too mainly because of a lilting tune.

Kya... Aisa Hota Hai Pyaar (Das Music)

The quality dips even further despite the fact that this is a film cassette. Music director Vivek Sahaney has also dabbled in writing and singing, without leaving his mark in any field.

Even the other singers like Onkar, Nisha and Sushmita Chakrabarty need a lot of training before being considered qualified for film singing. Sushmita too has penned one of the songs.

Interestingly all the three male solos have been sung by Vivek Sahaney while the only female solo is by Sushmita Chakrabarty.
