BJP not to cut ties with INLD Rohtak, December 13 Mr Asked by The Tribune if there was any need for the BJP to review its alliance with Mr Om Prakash Chautala’s INLD in view of the general feeling among the BJP cadres of marginalisation of the party by the INLD, he said, “The BJP will continue its political alliance in Haryana”. This is expected to effectively block the recent campaign launched by the BJP cadres in Haryana that the party should sever its ties with the INLD now that it had scored massive victories in the recently concluded Assembly elections in three states. The upbeat BJP cadres had begun the move in an attempt to express their disapproval of the present state of ties between their party and the INLD. Earlier, addressing mediapersons, he said the recent electoral gains made by the BJP had proved that the masses had rejected the Congress politics of “dry fields and empty stomachs”. He said the Congress ruled the country for 45 years by playing this card. However, the nation was now behind the Prime Minister’s agenda of making India a developed nation. He said no political party which skirted the issues of development could now succeed. The country required basic infrastructure. The NDA government, would therefore, ensure that all villages were linked by metalled roads by 2007. The power generation in the country would be doubled by 2010 by which year “not even a single shanty in the country would be without round- the-clock power supply”, he added. He said the Centre would launch the farmer income insurance scheme to ensure that the farmers got at least an assured return from their fields, natural calamities notwithstanding. He said experiments to devise norms were on in 18 districts all over the country in the form of a pilot project. The idea was to calculate the average yield from an acre in seven years on the basis of which the farmers would get paid by the insurance companies for any shortfall in their incomes. |

NDA govt of scams, says Arjun Singh Bhiwani, December 13 Mr Arjun Singh was addressing a public meeting held at the grain market of Loharu, 60 km from here, today. The meeting was organised by a Congress leader, Mr Raj Singh Gagadwas. Mr Arjun Singh said the BJP had projected Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee as the party’s mascot and had been successful in misguiding the public. “Holding on to power by raising alluring slogans, the NDA government was deceiving the people of the country,” he said, adding that the BJP used the name of Shri Ram in the elections and thereafter the Prime Minister announced that Ram Mandir was not on the agenda of the NDA. The Congress leader charged the BJP with spreading communalism in the name of caste, creed and religion, which, he said, was not in the interest of the country.
