Rain, snow in HP, Uttaranchal New Delhi, December 13 Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose in Haryana, Punjab and east Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were largely above normal in Punjab and east Rajasthan, markedly above normal in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, appreciably above normal in west Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and above normal in Himachal Pradesh. The lowest temperature in the plains was 9.1°C recorded at Bikaner (Rajasthan). Forecast valid until the morning of December 15: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab, north Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region. Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of December 15: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or thundershowers in some areas. Mist/fog in the morning. Snow, rain in region dip mercury
Chandigarh, December 13 The ski resort of Gulmarg and hill areas of Baramula and the Siachen received snow in J-K while Dhundi, Patsio and the tribal areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Pangi were covered by a white blanket, Meteorological Department sources said here. Srinagar (1.6 mm) and Jammu (1.2 mm) were lashed by rains. Icy cold winds sweeping the Kashmir valley made people groan under intense chill. Shimla was lashed by heavy rain and strong winds kept the mercury down while Sundernagar, Nahan, Una, Rampur, Sunni, Manali, Solang nullah and Sujanpur Tihra also received rains. Chandigarh witnessed an overcast sky since morning today and sharp showers kept the day temperature down. The neighbouring towns of Ambala, Kurukshetra in Haryana also reported rains. Rohtak was also lashed by rains. In Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana, the Nangal dam area, Ropar and Patiala received some showers. The Met has forecast moderate rain or snow at many places in Himachal Pradesh while light-to-moderate rain has been forecast at some places in Punjab and Haryana over the next two days. — PTI |
