PSEB finds 208 power theft

The enforcement wing of Punjab State Electricity Board today detected about 208 cases of power theft and unauthorised extension of load when raids were conducted in different parts of the city early in the morning. Official sources said PSEB authorities had imposed a penalty of Rs 6,73,795 on those caught.

Bail plea of Sarpanch dismissed
Sangrur, December 19
A local court today dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Kesar Singh, Sarpanch of Hasanpur village, near Dhuri, while the court granted anticipatory bail to the other 16 accused in a case related to an alleged clash between Dalits and landlords of the village on November 11. In the clash, 20 persons of both sides were injured.

The police has unearthed a factory, manufacturing fake tobacco and selling it under the name of known brands in different markets.
In a press note here today, Mr Kapil Dev, SSP, said that three brothers namely Ranjiv Kumar, Parshottam Kumar and Sanjiv Kumar were running a tobacco factory under the brand name of Mahesh Tobacco Company and manufacturing and packing tobacco under brand name of Ganesh Tobacco Factory, Maur Mandi.

NRI-funded school

The Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, is scheduled to inaugurate the new building of Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Samrai village near here on Saturday, for which the NRIs of the region had contributed Rs 1.42 crore after they were persuaded by the state government.
