The rash of murders in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula in the recent past over attempts to grab property have heralded the new trend of people with white-collar background resorting to heinous offences. Greed was allegedly the driving force behind these gruesome murders which shook the conscience of the people. Ruchika M. Khanna reports.

IS mantra is 'policing with a human face' and it has made a world of a difference in Himachal Pradesh. For the last three years as the Director General of Police, A. K. Puri, an 1967 batch IPS officer, has been carrying out his mission with relentless zeal. Says Puri, "I want to bring the community and the police on one platform. I want to make the police a partner in community life."

E all like to believe that parenthood is a tough job. When we are through with the miseries of growing up to be an adult, we tend to forget what it meant to be a kid. The phase of life that we are currently in is always the toughest. When we are young, it seems a big deal if we have a semester exam or a fight with a friend. As we grow out of these things, we also forget the intensity of the strain they could put us under.
