Dense fog throws life out of gear

Is this year going to be a repeat of 1972 when people could not even get a glimpse of the sun through fog for 10 days on a stretch? The question assumes significance in the view of the dense fog that started falling on Wednesday, causing a sudden drop in day and night temperatures.

RomeshHe has the world’s longest nails

He figures in the Guinness Book of World Records for possessing the longest nails in the world. His name was entered in the record book in 1973 for possessing 72-inch-long nails. Mr Romesh was in the city, courtesy Spice Telecom that has a stall in the CII fair, currently under way here. When this correspondent met him during the fair, he was having lunch while his nails were rested on a chair beside him.

2 killed in road mishaps

The Shimla Puri police has registered a case under sections 279,304-A and 427 of the IPC on the statement of Mr. Darshan Singh, a resident of Mohalla Chet Singh Nagar, against an unknown driver of tractor, who hit his son Harpal Singh while was going on a scooter near Arora Palace on Thursday.

The All Open Kabaddi Cup will be the main attraction of this year's annual sports festival of the Gujjarwal village to be held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium from December 23 to 25. According to Mr Pavitter Singh Grewal, chairman, Amarjit Grewal Club, a meeting of the club was conducted here to take stock of the preparations being made for the successful conduct of the festival.
