Samdrup Jongkhar (Bhutan), December 20
Keeping up the heat, the Royal Bhutanese Army juggernaut rolled on dismantling the camps of north-eastern insurgents as Thimpu handed over top ULFA leader Biju Deka and 25 others surrendered ultras to the Indian Army.
There were reports that several militants have sneaked into Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Deka, along with 25 others surrendered yesterday to the RBA when all 30 camps of the militants were overrun and were handed over to the Indian Army today, Mr Yeshey Dorjee, Director in Bhutan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a visiting PTI correspondent here.
Indian Army sources said the militants would be handed over to the police at Tamulpur police station tomorrow.
The 48-hour general strike call by the ULFA, the NDFB and the KLO partially affected normal life in Assam and drew a blank in North Bengal, where the KLO is based. —
