Even as the Ropar police arrested
two close relatives of absconding Akali leader, Kiranbir Singh Kang,
his wife, Neena Kang today demanded the lodging of an FIR against the
SHO who had ‘illegaly’ raided their house on July 2 midnight. The
police tortured the servants by giving them electric shocks, smashed
the windows, ransacked the house and took away their Lancer car,
alleged Neena Kang.

least expected to be selected for the All-India Institute of Medical
Sciences. I did not trust my friends at AIIMS who first told me about
my achievement”, said Sajan Jiv Singh Nagpal who made this city, his
parents and family proud of him by securing the second rank in the
AIIMS entrance examination for MBBS.

Accused Gurcharan Singh, alias
Gheru, husband of the village Sarpanch, Ms Narinder Kaur, is allegedly
putting pressure on the victim, Jangir Singh, to withdraw his
complaint and reach a compromise regarding blackening of his face and
parading him in the village after putting a ‘garland’ of shoes
around his neck.

Mr Ashok Gupta, has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the alleged
inscribing of an objectionable word on the back of a local Central
Jail inmate on Friday night, the Inspector-General of Police
(Prisons), Mr S.K.Dutta, today suspended Deputy Superintendent of jail
Satpal Singh and jail doctor Chander Parkash till the completion of
the magisterial probe.

Woman killed by
in-laws

Karamjit Kaur, mother of two
daughters, was killed today allegedly by her husband, father-in-law,
brother-in-law and sister-in-law. The body was dumped in a bore
latrine in their house in this village. They then raised a hue and cry
that she had run away with a paramour.
