Kidwai for Haryana as Kalam names 4 Governors

New Delhi, July 5
President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam today appointed new Governors for Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Goa. While former UPSC Chairman A.R. Kidwai has been appointed Governor of Haryana, former AICC General Secretary Nawal Kishore Sharma is the new Governor of Gujarat, former Intelligence Bureau Chief T.V. Rajeswar Governor of Uttar Pradesh and former Nagaland Chief Minister S.C. Jamir Governor of Goa, a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said here this evening. The new Governors replace Mr Babu Parmanand of Haryana, Mr Kailashpati Mishra of Gujarat, Mr Vishnu Kant Shastri of Uttar Pradesh and Mr Kidar Nath Sahni of Goa, who were sacked three days back by the Centre. Following the dismissal of the four Governors, the President had given additional charge of Haryana to Punjab Governor Om Prakash
Verma.
