Pak golfers may play in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, July 10
Golfers from Pakistan may be seen in action on the lush course of the Chandigarh Golf Club sometime in October or November this year.

The President of the Golf Federation of Pakistan, Lt-Gen Mohammed Tariq, has accepted the invitation from the Chandigarh Golf Club to send a team of golfers from Lahore, Peshawar and Rawalpindi for a Goodwill Golf Tournament .

Giving this information to The Tribune, Dr G.S. Kochhar, Chairman, Media, Publicity, Protocol and Magazine, Chandigarh Golf Club, said the captain of the club, Mr Gurjit Singh Lehal, and a former president of the club, Mr Gurinderjit Singh Sandhu, along with some members of the club, met the Pakistani golfers during the Indo-Pakistan Golf Peace Tournament at Naldhera.

Firearms banned

Chandigarh, July 10
In view of the SGPC elections tomorrow, and the ensuing Punjab Vidhan Sabha session, the District Magistrate, Mr Arun Kumar, has imposed an immediate ban on the carrying of fire-arms in the union territory.

He also imposed a ban on taking out processions, making speeches, raising slogans and the assembly of five or more persons in Sectors 1 to 26. Violaters will be booked under Section 188, IPC.
