Troops kill 10 ultras; 34 hurt in Anantnag blast Jammu/Srinagar, July 10 A spokesman for the Army said that nine AK rifles, 43 AK magazines, 3 kg of explosives, 25 detonators, 15 improvised IEDs, 20 hand grenades, one pistol, six wireless sets and four pistol magazines were seized. Based on information from civilians about the presence of six terrorists, the troops laid an ambush at Mandi Nullah near Poonch and killed the militants following a fierce gun battle when they reached there. The terrorists have been identified as Abu Shaheen (Karachi, Pakistan), Mohammad Iqbal (Surankot), Abdul Razaq (Surankot), Abu Babar (Lahore), Abu Husera (Karachi) and Abu Hayder (Karachi). One terrorist was killed and another apprehended at Dhaman near Machhedi in the Kathua district. The killed terrorist has been identified as Mohammad Ayaz, who was a launch commander of the HM for Udhampur, Kathua and Marmat. The apprehended militant has been identified as Abdul Hussain who was forcibly being taken away by the former for recruitment. Three terrorists were shot near Ghundi in Poonch district. Thirty four persons, including an SPO, were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade at Mattan Adda in Anantnag town, about 50 km south of Srinagar this morning. A foreign militant of the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit was killed in an encounter with security forces at Gangbugh, Lolab, in Kupwara district yesterday. |
