Project for cancer patients launched Ludhiana, July11 Dr Tiwari lauded the efforts of the GCCI and the Oswal Hospital in fighting the cancer. Dr Satish Jain, Medical Director, Oswal Hospital, said nurses of the hospital had specially been trained by the GCCI in palliative care at New Delhi in association with Royal Marsden College of the U K. Brig B.V. Ahuja, Executive Director, GCCI, highlighted the activities taken up by organistion in the field of cancer. He said the project had simultaneously been launched at Amritsar, besides Ambala and Chandigarh. Dr Praveen Kaur, Senior Consultant, Radiation oncology, talked on the importance of palliative care. Artiste aiming to attend Olympics Mr Rishi feels indebted to the teachers of local Sanatan Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, who promoted his talent. Presently a student of local Shanti Tara College, Rishi was picked up by an international folk dancer and coach, Mr. Ajay Sharma, at a stage performance and he was asked to be member of a 12-member delegation team led by Mr. Ashwani Sharma. The team performed around 15 shows in various institutes in countries like Holland, Poland, Turkey and Germany and returned recently. Recapturing the moments during tour abroad, Mr. Rishi said, "Most exciting moment of our tour was when the Indian Ambassador to Germany and his counterpart jointly applauded our show at the Children Day function of the host country." Besides folk orchestra and bhangra the Europeans relished the performances of Banjara, Jindua, Jhumar, Malwai Giddha, Mirza, Malki Keema and Kirti Di Kulli. More exciting was the experience when the organizers of 2012 Olympics recorded the events reportedly to be shown during the games. Rishi has already performed for Lashkara channel and New Year celebrations by DD-Punjabi channel.
