Students seek exemption from toll

Students of the Regional Institute of Management and Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh, have, in a representation, demanded that toll tax should not be collected from students at Sirhind Canal Bridge, Doraha.

It was pointed out in the representation presented to Mr Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, Parliamentary Secretary here today that 22 students were daily commuters from Ludhiana to Mandi Gobindgarh by bus of the O.P. Bansal Educational Trust. Rs 2400 per month is being charged as toll tax from the unemployed students, it was mentioned.

The Ludhiana College of Engineering and Techno-logy at Katani Kalan conducted counselling for the management quota seats on Tuesday. The Principal, Dr J.S. Sohal, said the counselling was conducted as per the PTU norms and the list of the students was prepared on the basis of the preference of merit in CET, AIEEE and the 10 plus two.

Mr Vijay Gupta, Chair-man, while interacting with students who are seeking admission said talks were already on with some industrial houses to provide students with the opportunity to do real life projects. He announced that he academic session would begin from July 26 as per PTU rules.

‘Expressions 2003-2004’, a school magazine of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, was released by Father Davis here today. A collective effort of the students and the teachers, the magazine focuses on activities on the school campus.

Sister Sobel, Principal has been named as the inspiration behind the school magazine by the student editors.
