CHandigarh: The five-day Vani Certificate Course held by the local AIR station to train newcomers for the job of radio presenter concluded here last week. As many as 14 persons from varied backgrounds, including mass communication students, housewives, and professionals from the print and electronic media, participated in the event.

"The course is the first of its kind to be held by AIR in Chandigarh," informed the Station Director K.C. Dubey.

The programme comprised sessions on script writing, compering, voice modulation, dubbing and talks on the role and responsibilities of announcers. Besides, practical exercises on recording interviews, music programmes and dramas and visits to the studios.

"The participants had undergone written tests and audition to be selected as presenters for the course," added Dubey. TNS

Aptech launches degree programmes

New Delhi: Aptech University recently launched its degree programmes for students aiming to pursue courses in Management, IT, Media Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences. Other programmes (Diploma and Certificate) are also available.

The announcement marks Aptech's entry into the field of formal education. Admission to these programmes will be based on online tests to be conducted at Aptech Distance Education Academic Centers (DAEC) located throughout the country.

Aptech University, established through an Act of the State Legislature, will be headquartered in Raipur, where a campus will be set up soon.

Wing Cdr. (retd) Pratap Pradhan, Vice-Chancellor, Aptech University, said, "The launch of degree programmes by Aptech University is one more step in our continuing commitment to provide world-class, industry-relevant higher education to students in India.

With Aptech University, students can undergo application-oriented education with a focus on technology-driven mentoring, industry relevant curriculum, global student exchange programmes and internships." TNS
