Last date for filing IT returns extended

New Delhi, July 22
The last date for filing the return of income has been extended by three months to October 31.

An official press note said the Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the due date for filing of returns of income for 2004-05 to October 31 from the previous date of July 31.

The new date for filing returns is applicable for the salaried and non-corporate assessees, whose accounts are not required to be audited under the Income Tax Act. — PTI
