RSS serves legal notice on Arjun
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, August 14
The RSS today served legal notice on Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh demanding an “unconditional written apology” for his allegation that the organisation was responsible for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

The legal notice has not set any timeframe for his apology.

The notice has also demanded that Mr Arjun Singh give an undertaking that he will not “misadventure” in future to give any such statement against the RSS, organisation spokesman Ram Madhav said here.

The RSS has threatened to file a criminal defamation case against the HRD Minister under Section 500 of the IPC if “he does not comply with the demand for an apology from the RSS.”

The notice said under the legal proceedings the RSS would ask for damages from Mr Arjun Singh and all other persons and organisations “involved in this offence.”

The notice has also asked Mr Arjun Singh to explain whether the statement given by him were in his individual capacity or in the capacity of a member of the AICC.

He said the RSS had also sought to know whether the senior Congress leader gave the statement “with the consent and on behalf of all the members of the AICC.”

NEW DELHI: “Let me see it. I have already challenged them to do their worst”, HRD Minister Arjun Singh said today responding to the legal notice served on him by the RSS.

Arjun Singh, who is in Indore, made the cryptic comment when contacted by PTI on the notice issued by the Sangh Fountainhead.

He had on Tuesday challenged the RSS to “do their worst” and said its philosophy of “hatred and violence” killed Mahatma Gandhi. — PTI
