City awash with Tricolour
Ludhiana, August 15
Various schools, colleges, organisations today celebrated the Independence Day. The whole city was awash with the three colours of the Tricolour.
The Independence Day celebrations were held at BCM Model Senior Secondary School. The school also observed the day as 'topper’s day' to congratulate and honour various toppers.

Celebrations at
CMCH, IGNOU centre
Ludhiana, August 15
The 57th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated with vigour and patriotism at Christian Medical College and Hospital here today. The celebrations were organised by Dental College, medical college and college of nursing. Mr D.Choudhary, Superintending Engineer, PSEB, was the chief guest.

Family celebrates boy’s escape from clutches of kidnappers
Ludhiana, August 15
The Independence Day could not have brought more cheer for the family of a retired horticulturist in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, Block-G here, when after two nerve -wrecking days, the members finally had the glimpse of their 17-year-old boy kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh (Rs 30 lakh according to the family) on Friday morning.

Fee for late entry of births goes
Ludhiana, August 15
The state government has exempted fee for late entry in birth registers under Rule 10 of the Punjab Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2004.
According to officials of the Directorate of Census Operations, this has been done as part of various measures to successfully implement the second phase of the national campaign to issue birth certificates which is underway.
