Pankaj Udhas enthrals

Gazal singer Pankaj Udhas enthralled residents of the city with his all-time favourite compositions at a function held here last night. Udhas who completes 25 years of singing next year said he was working on two albums due to be released before the year-end.

He had come to the city for a concert way back in 1983. “I feel delighted to be back as the audience here listens to artists like me with rapt attention, besides the city has given me one of my most cherished friends,” he said.

He said he had cut 40 albums so far and the albums he was working on would be released in October and December.

He said there was need to ensure that the art form of gazal singing passed on to the coming generations. This he said could be done by gazal singers and the audio industry.

At the concert, he sang some of his all-time hits, besides singing to requests. The audience also got to hear some of his yet to be released songs.

Bhambri set for Athens meet

Ludhiana, August 15
Mr Surinder Bhambri, secretary, Punjab Women's Football Association (PWFA), has been invited to participate at a meeting to be held in Athens for development officers of women football in the world. Stating this, Ms Sukhvinder Kaur, spokesperson for the PWFA, said earlier too, Mr Bhambri on the invitation of the FIFA, had participated in the International Women Football Conference held in the USA last year.

In June this year, Mr Bhambri participated as the leader of SAARC nations in the International Football Conference held in Suzou, China, she added.
