Forced sex case against Met boss

New Delhi, August 30
A case has been registered against Director General of the Meteorological Department, Dr Suresh Kumar Srivastava, for sexual harassment of a 30-year-old married woman for about 10 years.

The woman in an FIR alleged that Shrivastava used to “threaten, pressurise and coerce” her to demand sexual favours, the police said.

He even offered to marry her and arranged a separate house, car and enough bank balance to lead a comfortable life, the FIR, filed in the R K Puram police station here, said.

When she got married to another person, Shrivastava began blackmailing her and threatened to reveal their relationship to her in-laws, the FIR said.

Shrivastava also allegedly threatened to have her husband sacked from his job, the FIR alleged.

Of late, in the absence of her family members, she alleged, he had even physically assaulted her at her residence in the city several times, according to the police.

Demanding action against Shrivastava, she also alleged he had been exploiting many other poor girls like her.

The police booked him under various sections on August 27 and initiated an inquiry into the matter. — PTI
