Govt not to extend Phukan panel
term
New Delhi, October 1
The UPA government has decided not to
extend the term of the Justice Phukan Commission probing the Tehelka
revelations in a decision that is expected to have wide repercussions in
the on-going confrontation with the Opposition. The commission’s term
ends on November 2.

Kaur is a broken woman. Widowed at 25 years of age, she is now fighting a lone
battle of justice against her own in-laws who allegedly “sold” her off to a
middle aged man for a paltry sum of Rs 25,000.
