SC orders fresh examination of 10 ‘key answers’ of PMET

Overruling the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s directive to send the entire question paper of the Punjab Pre-medical Entrance Test to the Central Board of Secondary Education
for determining the correctness of “key answers” set out by Guru Nanak Dev University, the Supreme Court today ordered fresh examination of only 10 answers by the CBSE and Delhi University
simultaneously.
Govt
to bring new law on college admission quota
New Delhi, August 17
The government will bring a
legislation in the Winter session of Parliament to overturn Supreme
Court judgment abolishing government quotas for the members of
depressed sections of the society in private unaided colleges and a
regulatory mechanism to exercise social control over the entire
education system.

CRPF
man killed, 9 hurt in Anantnag car blast
Srinagar, August 17
A jawan of the CRPF was killed and
nine others, including six CRPF personnel and three civilians, were
injured in a car bomb blast in Kulgam of Anantnag district today. The
police here said militants detonated an IED planted in a car at Katran
in the Kulgam area this afternoon, when some security forces vehicles
were on the move.
