Mumbai, August 21
A 12-member Central team, here to assess the damage caused by the recent spell of heavy rains in Maharashtra, today visited the flood-affected areas of Mumbai.
The team, headed by Joint Secretary in Union Home Ministry H. S. Bramha, which arrived from Delhi this afternoon, visited the Saki Naka area in suburbs, the Air India colony, Kurla and the Mithi river, state government’s secretary (relief and rehabilitation) K. Vatsa said here.
The team would be further sub-divided into three groups and would leave for the flood-affected Konkan region, western Maharashtra and Marathwada region tomorrow, Mr Vatsa said.
The team was expected to reach here on August 23 after completing their assessment of the damage and relief work, he said.
