SHO held for accepting bribe

The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has caught the SHO of Kralkhud police station here while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a person. A spokesman for the SVO said one Habibullah Sofi had lodged a complaint with the organisation that he was arrested by the SHO for allegedly possessing narcotics and was kept in the police custody for five days. When the offence under the NDPS Act could not be proved against him during investigation, the SHO called him and demanded bribe for having closed his case as “Not Proved”. Sofi lodged a complaint with the SVO. Officials of the SVO, accompanied by independent witnesses, laid a trap and arrested the SHO while accepting the amount from the complainant.
