bid to prevent infiltration by a heavily armed group of Pakistan-trained
terrorists. However, they shot six terrorists before laying down their

test-fired

Ahead of its production and
induction by the armed forces, Akash, the surface-to-air missile was
flight tested against a pilotless target aircraft Lakshya and its low
body at 1230 hrs today from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur on

owns up dissolution decision

Dismissing suggestions that he
dissolved the Bihar Assembly under pressure from the Centre, Mr Buta
Singh, who resigned as the state’s Governor in the wake of his
indictment by the Supreme Court, today asserted that it was a
constitutional decision taken by him.

Harassed
paralytic sets himself on fire
Jalandhar, January 28
A 62-year-old paralytic tried
to immolate himself in his house in the Bhargo Camp area today. He
had been suffering from paralysis for the past few years. According
to his family members, Mela Ram was frustrated of his physical
condition. He was also under stress as a financier had got his
younger son implicated in a case.
