Red cards: Mr Gurcharan Singh Aulakh, president, 1984 Riots Victims Association, here on Friday urged the government to issue red cards to victims who could not avail of certain facilities as they could not apply for red cards. He said many people were not aware of the cards.HOSHIARPUR
Arrested: The city police arrested Guljit Singh of the Kamalpur area and seized 350 gm of smack worth lakhs of rupees from him on Friday, according to police sources here on Saturday. A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered. Meanwhile, the Tanda police also intercepted a mini truck (PB-08R-0881) at the focal point Dadiana on Friday and seized 1.30 quintals of poppy husk. The driver of the vehicle, Gulshan of Nangal was also booked under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. Booked: A case of duping by travel agents has been reported at Sadar police station, Hoshiarpur, on Friday. According to police sources, Nanak Chand in his complaint alleged that Gaurav Bagga and Nagraj, both of Sector 7, Noida, took Rs 3 lakh from him for arranging a US visa. But the duo neither got his visa arranged nor returned the money. The Sadar police has registered a case under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC against both. NAWANSHAHR
Suspended: Mr Krishan Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, has ordered the suspension of Mr Sarwan Singh, sarpanch of Saroya village, for misbehaving with the Dr Reeta Dhami and Dr Mohinder Pal, at the Civil Hospital, Saroya, while they were on duty. PATHANKOT
Workshop: Field Ambulance Gurj Division organised a workshop on HIV Aids here on Saturday at Gurj Auditorium at the military station. Students of Army School and Kendriya Vidyalaya participated. Ms Kiran Kharbanda, president of Army Wives Welfare Association, inaugurated it. A play was also organised on the occasion.
