Charles promises help to bring back Guru’s artefacts Anandpur Sahib, March 28 The Prince asked the president of the SGPC, Mr Avtar Singh, to gave him a list of the artefacts. Expressing concern over ban on turban in France and discrimination against Sikhs on the turban issue in other countries, the Prince said he would help the SGPC in this regard. Meanwhile, the Prince and his wife Camilla Parker were shown the weapons belonging to Guru Gobind Singh in the gurdwara. The SGPC chief was accompanied by the Jathedar of the gurdwara, Tarlochan Singh, SGPC general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhore and member Gurinder Singh Gogi. Although Prince Charles did not interact with mediapersons, giving details about his discussion with the Prince, the SGPC president said the British authorities returned six weapons belonging to Guru Gobind Singh displayed in the gurdwara on January 1, 1966. But, many other important articles, including the Kohinoor diamond, the chair of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, “kalgi” and weapons of Guru Gobind Singh, were still lying in the British Museum, he added. So we shared the significance of those historical objects to Sikhs with the Prince, he added “Now when the Prince has assured us all possible help to get back the historical articles, I will send him all details of these. We also discussed with the Prince incidents of discrimination against Sikhs on the turban issue in different countries,” said the SGPC president. |
