Accompanied by his wife, Ms Gursharan Kaur, the Prime Minister offered condolences to Mahajan's widow Rekha Mahajan, and other relatives.Dr Manmohan Singh placed a white flower in front of Mahajan's portrait and observed a few minutes silence during his short stay at the flat at the Purna building in Worli where the leader was shot by his brother.
Later in a statement, the BJP said the Prime Minister was emotional during his visit.
Meanwhile, the Mahajan family has decided to move out of the 15th floor flat where Pramod Mahajan was shot on April 22.
The family is now staying at the residence of Mahajan's brother-in-law, Mr Gopinath Munde, in the same building. Sources said the family was looking for alternative arrangements.
Pramod Mahajan had two flats in the Purna building and was also using a flat owned by Shiv Sena leader, Mr Manohar Joshi.
Mahajan's daughter, Ms Poonam Rao, lives with her husband, Mr Anand Rao, in Andhra Pradesh.
