Victim identifies 6 involved in Kashmir sex racket

Srinagar, May 29
Yasmeena, the teenager who was allegedly pushed into the sex racket in Jammu and Kashmir, has identified six of the 23 persons, including senior police officials, paraded before her by the CBI and four of them have been arrested, the High Court was informed today.

The CBI informed a Division Bench of Justices Hakeem Imtiyaz Hussain and B A Kirmani that of the persons identified by the 15-year-old girl, two had been arrested by the agency and two by the state police. All arrested men had raped Yasmeena, the CBI said.

The remaining two men were not arrested as they were not directly involved in the racket and had only visited the brothel where the racket operated.

The court then decided the next hearing of the case on June 2 would be held in camera in view of the sensitivities involved.

It also directed that the recording of the statement of Sabeena, the alleged kingpin of the racket, and the identification parade should be completed before June 2.

CBI DIG Pankaj Kumar Singh was asked by the court about progress made in the case, upon which he informed the judges about the Test Identification Parade (TIP) procedure involving Yasmeena. — PTI
