VLSI design courses gain popularity
Mohali, June 13 The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) and Semi Conductors Limited (SCL) the two Government of India Institutes here are offering degree and diploma courses in VLSI design. CDAC offers a two-year full time postgraduate programme leading to M.Tech degree. There are 10 general seats and another five sponsored seats. Three seats are reserved for SC / ST candidates. The eligibility for candidates is bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology in Electrical/Electronics/ Computers/ Instrumentation or equivalent degree with 55 per cent marks from a recognised university. In addition to the fulfillment of eligibility conditions the sponsored candidates must have a minimum of two years of full-time work experience and a first division bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Computer/ Instrumentation. Candidates from PTU affiliated colleges, including C-DAC, would be eligible under sponsored seats. Admissions would be made on the basis of valid GATE score in the relevant field. The merit list for GATE candidates will be prepared on the following weightage 70 per cent GATE score and 30 per cent Entrance Test subject to qualifying the entrance test conducted by the institute. The test would be held on July 4 and the last date for the submission of application forms is July 3. SCL VEDANT Programme covers the complete spectrum of VLSI design training for aspiring engineers. VEDANT offers an advanced six month post graduate diploma in VLSI design. This is high-end specialised comprehensive course which covers all aspects of VLSI Design. The course curriculum is based on a project-centric approach recommended by eminent academicians and VLSI experts from industry. M.Tech. / M.E. / B.Tech. / B.E. in Electronics / Electrical / Electronics & Telecommunication / Instrumentation / M.Sc. (Electronics) or any other equivalent qualification with in-depth background in electronics as mainstream discipline at graduation/post graduation level are eligible to apply. Final semester students are eligible to appear as provisional candidates provided their final qualifying semester ends before the commencement of this course. Experienced electronic design engineers, from electronic industry and R&D organisations with more than one year of relevant experience are eligible for direct admission without entrance examination. Such candidates are required to submit a copy of resume with supporting documents for evaluation by the admissions committee. The application forms can be downloaded from www.vedant.net. Printed Application Forms along with the instruction sheet are also available free of cost at the training centre. The entrance for the admission would be conducted at various centres in India. |

Children’s club to open membership
Chandigarh, June 13 Started by Ms Sunaiyna Dass, Principal, Vivek Prep and Nursery School, Sector 9, and Ms Divya Bansal, coordinator, the club aims at teaching the children how to have fun in the rustic environment. With outdoor activities, including kite flying, trekking, making ropes, pebble mosaic, splashing in water pools, treasure hunt, cycling, and also survival cooking, which is cooking food without gas, this club aims to develop both mental and physical facets of a child’s personality. Ms Dass adds, “We want our children to be innovative and make good use of their natural surroundings.” |
