Mandi Ahmedgarh, June 13
Paramedical courses, besides improving health facilities, can help fight the problem of unemployment, said speakers at a seminar organised by Baba Farid College of Paramedical and Higher Education at Rurki village, near here, yesterday.

Dr Irfan Faruqi from Punjabi University, Patiala, said paramedical courses had produced a force of professionally qualified helping hands for doctors.

“Besides improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment it has provided employment to thousands of youths who otherwise would have fallen prey to social evils, including addiction and petty crime,” claimed Dr Faruqi.

Dr Tanvir held that professionally qualified paramedics could help spread awareness about the preventive techniques.

“It is high time that we stop relying on merely teaching students that ‘prevention is better than cure’. Instead we should utilise the services of paramedics to create such awareness among masses through innovative methods,” stressed Dr Tanvir.

Elaborating on the significance of various paramedical courses, Mohamad Tahir, chairman of the institute, announced certain concessions for poor students desirous of pursuing education in the institute.

He assured that the trust, running the affairs of the institute, would manage loans for students so that wards of poor persons could make their dreams come true.
