CM seeks report on education scam

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, June 26
The Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, has sought a report on the “Punjab Education scam” highlighted by The Tribune in these columns last week. Sources said a strong message will be sent down the line that action has been taken against those who indulged in misappropriation at the Punjab State Council of Research Education and Training.

The Chief Minister has asked for all the details on the issue. Cases of large-scale misappropriation could be handed over to some investigating agency, said sources. If that is the case then the Chief Secretary, Mr K.R. Lakhanpal, will be consulted as he heads the Vigilance Bureau. The Chief Minister may even decide to lodge regular police cases against those who withdrew money through fraudulent means from government bank accounts.
