Sex racket: judicial custody for 2 ex-ministers
Tribune News Service

Srinagar, June 27
The Chief Judicial Magistrate here today remanded two former Jammu and Kashmir ministers, allegedly involved in the sex racket, in 14 days' judicial custody.
Two former ministers Raman Matto and Ghulam Ahmad Mir are in the custody of the CBI since June 20.

At least 12 persons, including Mir and Matto, who were ministers of state in the Mufti Sayeed-led coalition government, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The two ministers were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at his residence here this morning, who remanded them in 14 days' judicial custody.

This followed the expiry of three days' CBI remand to the two former ministers.

The sex scandal was unearthed following the filing of a report in Shaheed Gunj police station on March 13 this year.

It led to protest demonstrations when an angry mob of people demolished the house of Sabina at Habbakadal, the alleged kingpin in the racket.

The case was handed over to the CBI. A Division Bench of the high court is monitoring the investigations.
