Tribune News Service

New Delhi, July 10
A city court today extended for 14 days the judicial custody of all six accused in the Navy war room leak case. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini extended the judicial custody of former Navy Commanders V.K. Jha and Bijendra Rana, former Wing Commander Sambhajee L. Surve, Lt Cdr Kulbhushan Parashar (retd) and two civilians Mukesh Bajaj and Raj Rani Jaiswal.

Though Bajaj and Jaiswal were granted bail on July 5 they were not released, as they could not furnish sureties of Rs 1 lakh each, as ordered by the court.

The CBI today filed an application in the court seeking in camera proceeding as the case pertained to the Official Secrets Act. Accused Kulbushan Parashar put up his bail application.

Bijendra Rana filed an application against the CBI, saying the charge sheet did not conform to the “definition of charge sheet”. All applications will be heard on July 14.

He also filed a revision application in a Special CBI court, saying the charge sheet under the Official Secrets Act has to be filed with 60 days and not 90 days from the date of the commission of crime. The six had been arrested on April 6 by the CBI during raids at 17 places across six cities.
