Lecture on AIDS awareness

Chandigarh, August 14
The Biological Association of Government College for Girls, Sector 42, Chandigarh, organised a lecture on “Awareness and Accomplishment” of HIV/AIDS here today.

Principal Inderjit Kaur welcomed the speaker and emphasised upon the role of such extension programmes for the better awareness of the issue. Dr Kamini Walia, a Senior Research Officer in the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi, made the students aware about the causes, efforts and remedies pertaining to HIV/AIDS.

She highlighted the research work being done in India in the field of HIV/AIDS. ICMR is actively involved in HIV vaccine and micro -biocide development in the country.

Dr Walia informed students that National AIDS control programme was being seen in the country as an effort to control and reverse the wave of AIDS/HIV epidemic in India. — TNS

Over 125 students take memory test

Chandigarh, August 14
i-Matrix Worldwide, an international player in the field of total brain development screened the premier show of the first memory movie of the world, ‘Yaad Rakhenge Aap’ at Nirman Theatre, Sector 32 yesterday.

Around 125 students from various schools of the tri-city watched the screening of the movie along with their teachers, co-coordinators and principals.

Students also appeared in iMatrix memory test-1 and were asked to remember a list of 20 random things in eight minutes. The test papers were evaluated by a panel of judges and the average score of the students was 34 per cent.

Students took another test, iMatrix Memory Test-2 at Hotel Park View in Sector 24. Among those present there was Lt Gen BKN Chhibber, former Governor, Punjab, Dr Satinder Dhillon, Principal, Dev Samaja College of Education, Dr Dev Ichha, Principal SBBS, Jalandhar, Poonam Sharma, Principal, Ryan International School. The average score of the students in the second test was 62 per cent. Biswaroop Roy Chaudhary, Director, iMatrix World Wide was also present.

Rohit Shekhar Sharma, CEO, iMatrix Worldwide said, “We are launching a super memory power package, which will include one-day memory workshop and one show of the movie at no-profit basis in the city.”

The package, which costs Rs 3500 per person, would be offered at Rs 500 per person he stated.
