New Delhi, September 5
Chandigarh-based doctor J.S. Bedi, charged with issuing fake medical certificate to Vikas Gill, one of the accused in the Jessica Lall murder case, surrendered before a Delhi Court today.
Bedi, against whom non-bailable arrest warrants had been issued, surrendered before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamini Lau, who remanded him in three-day police custody.
Bedi, who had been on the run, had yesterday expressed his willingness through his counsel to surrender before the Delhi High Court.
He had also withdrawn his anticipatory bail petition from the High Court.
Bedi had been evading arrest since the second week of August. He is accused of giving false medical certificates to Gill that he was suffering from spinal problems to facilitate his personal exemption during trial of the case.
