‘Kabul Express is an anti-war film’

Kabir Khan on location in Afghanistan
|
Kabir
Khan, a film
graduate from Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, has already made
his mark as a documentary film-maker. His documentary The
Taliban Years and Beyond was premiered at the Cork
International Film Festival, 2003, Ireland, and was telecast on
the Discovery Channel. Another documentary of his The Titanic
Sinks in Kabul on environmental destruction in Afghanistan
due to the war was selected for the prestigious 5th FICA Film
Festival in Brazil.
And now Khan is
all set to make his presence felt in Bollywood as the director
of Yash Raj Film’s latest production Kabul Express. This
is his first feature film and the script is based on his
experiences in Afghanistan as a documentary film-maker.
The film has been
written by him and shot entirely on location in Afghanistan.
On his creative
involvement...
I have my own
share of creative involvement being the director of the film. Kabul
Express is an anti-war film with Afghanistan as background.
This is an intriguing, topical story set in post 9\ 11 war in
Kabul, Afghanistan. All actors have been cast according to the
nationalities of the characters. John Abraham, Arshad Warsi play
the lead roles along with Salman Shahid (Pakistan) Hanief Hum
Gum (Afghanistan) and Linda Arsenio (USA).
On Aditya
Chopra...
Aditya Chopra
agrees to anything that is needed to better the film,
irrespective of the budget involved. This is one good quality in
him.
