New infrastructure policy soon: PM
New Delhi, October 7
 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today assured a new investor-friendly policy soon to meet India's requirement of around $320 billion for infrastructure development, particularly in railways, roads, port and power, over the next six years.

Dengue hits Armymen, toll mounts
New Delhi, October 7
Dengue has spread its tentacles beyond the civilian population. After AIIMS, it is now the turn of the Research Hospital and Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment to provide treatment to 10 Armymen and their families.

Tharanga (105) powers Sri Lanka to victory

 It was tipped to be a contest among unequals as the inaugural match of the Champions Trophy against Bangladesh was expected to be a cakewalk for Sri Lanka. But the script did not unfold along the expected lines. Though Sri Lanka were able to emerge winners, Bangladesh proved valiant opponents and made the former World Cup winners work hard for victory.

Kidwai accepts Venod Sharma’s resignation
Chandigarh, October 7
The Haryana Governor, Dr A.R. Kidwai, has accepted the resignation of the power and Public Works Minister, Mr Venod Sharma, facing hostility from his political detractors following reports of a sting operation alleging that he influenced witnesses in the Jessica Lall murder case in which his son, Manu, is the main accused.
