Jaspal Bhatti

A publisher who was married last year was asked by one of his friends, "How is your married life? Does your wife help you in publishing work?"

He said, "Yes. She has proved to be a boon for my business. I published three books on her past love affairs and all the books were smash hits."

General Musharraf’s book In The Line Of Fire may not contain much truth but the publishers seem to be lapping it up. It already features in Amazon’s top sellers list.

Why has he written the book? Does he want to prove that he has no other source of income or he wanted to make a few extra millions? Probably he wanted to prove that since he was busy with his literary work, he couldn’t concentrate on checking terrorism.

But one thing is for certain. His book will inspire many. From Atal Bihari Vajpayee to George Bush, Armitage to Abdul Q Khan, everybody could write their own books to counter his claims.

General Musharraf says that at one point Richard Armitage, former Deputy Secretary of State, US, had told him to be prepared to be bombed to the Stone Age if General Musharraf didn’t cooperate with the US regarding the Afghanistan issue. Someone asked , "And if you had not cooperated then what?

General Musharraf replied, "Then I would have written the book on stones."
