Smugglers nabbed: Two opium smugglers were arrested here on Sunday. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr Arpit Shukla, said a police party intercepted a white Maruti car (HR 51-1701) near Panjawa village on the Sriganganagar-Abohar road. During a search, the police found 5 kg opium. Ram Sukh Bishnoi of Maderna Colony, Jodhpur, and another smuggler were arrested at Gumjal village.

Scholarships: The Nabha Foundation has established a scholarship programme of Rs 1, 00,000 to encourage and support meritorious students of The Punjab Public School here. For the year 2006-07, three students have been selected for the award-two day scholars and a boarder. The scholarship for the day scholar category is Rs 25,000 per student and for the boarder Rs 50,000. The scholarship award will cover the annual fee and other expenses, according to a
spokesman of the foundation.
