Four militants and a boy were killed and three others injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir since yesterday, while militants made aborted attempts on the lives of a PDP leader and an Imam.
The police here said militants made an attempt on the life of Haji Mohammad Abdullah Dar, block president of the PDP, at Chinkipora, Sopore, in Baramulla district yesterday.
He escaped unhurt, however, his PSO, Javed Ahmad, was injured in the shooting. He has been hospitalised, the police said.
Unidentified militants fired upon and injured Mohammad Altaf Shah, an Imam of Usmani Masjid, Aramwari Zero Bridge, early this morning.
He was admitted to a hospital and is stated to be out of danger.
An eight-year-boy, Bilal Ahmad, was killed and another injured in a blast at Khodwala nullah at Lalpore in Kupwara district today.
Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Bonigam, Shalimar, on the outskirts of Srinagar today.
Acting on a specific information, a joint party of the police and the CRPF launched a search operation in the area early this
morning.
