4 of family killed in Udhampur
Srinagar, November 5
Four members of a family, two Pakistani militants and a minor boy were killed and three boys injured critically in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where-as a powerful IED on Srinagar-Gulmarg road was detected today. A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was also arrested and four hideouts busted, while two LeT militants surrendered to security forces in the state, a Police spokesman said. Militants barged into the house of Ahad Bhat at Mangloobi-Dalwah in Gool sector of Udhampur district in the wee hours today and fired on the inmates. Bhat, his wife Fatima, their daughter Mubeena and niece Shameema died on the spot. Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur Basant Kumar Rath said the family was targeted after Bhat refused to marry his daughters to two militants who had visited the house with the proposal last night. Two Pakistani militants identified as Mohammad Ahmed alias Abu Furqan and Mohammad Irfan alias Abu Abdullah, both residents of Rawalpindi, were killed in an encounter with security forces in search operations at Phagsoo Nullah in Thathri area of Doda district today, the police spokesman said He said Muntazir Mushtaq (8) was killed and three others including two
brothers were injured critically when they fiddled with some explosive devices while playing at Sunderwani village of Bandipora in Baramula district today.All three injured boys were admitted to Soura medical institute where they are battling for lives, he said. The spokesman said an improvised explosive device (IED) attached with a time device at Ferozpora chowk near Tangmarg on Srinagar-Gulmarg road in Baramula district was detected today. The IED was placed inside a container, carrying salt, dry cells and wire, time watch and match boxes. The device was defused by the experts. A Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested along with two grenades and 11 AK rounds from Tengpona village of Pulwama district last evening. Two LeT militants surrendered before security forces along with a sniper rifle, a magazine, five rounds and 900 AK rounds from Vilgam area in Kupwara district. Earlier, defence sources identified the duo as overground workers of LeT Jehangir Ahmad Lone and Ghulam Ahmad Lone they were arrested in a joint operation by Army and the police which also led to the busting of a hideout. The spokesman said security forces busted three militant hideouts at Farkeen forest in Kupwara, Banjani Sunger forest in Doda and Adbak sector in Udhampur district during a search yesterday. Arms and explosives including an AK assault rifle, 10 kg potassium, 5 kg sulphur, 97 kg acid, 30 kg IED, 3 kg vaseline, 4 kg candles, 61 detonators, four timers, two IED boxes, 30 kg iron pieces, 53 kg mixture explosive powder, five grenades, two rockets, a wireless set and a 12 bore gun were recovered from these hideouts, he said. —
